We are excited to announce that the full first series of Quit Insights Clinical Series podcasts are now available, with six episodes featuring expert guest speakers sharing their experience on current topics around smoking and vaping cessation. These include discussions on professional insights, clinical experience, patient support, emerging issues, best practice, case studies and new resources, all tailored for health professionals.

The Quit website is a new national advanced cessation platform supporting people who smoke and/or vape. Health professionals can encourage patients and their family and community members to visit the site for free information, tools, resources, and support services.
Research: Training health professionals in smoking cessation
A recent US study found those who smoke or previously smoked face higher rehospitalisation risk. Prescription of cessation medications reduces this risk, however prescribing rates were low, highlighting a gap in care.

Latest rates of smoking, vaping and use of other nicotine products in Australia
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare have released the first series of results from the latest National Drug Strategy Household Survey (NDSHS) focussing on tobacco, vaping and other nicotine insights. Results indicate that the daily smoking rate has fallen to 5.6%, down from 8.3% in 2022-2023 and 19.5% in 2001.
